🐴 Caring for Our Horses
Our horses are at the heart of Jayell Ranch. Each one is carefully matched to riders based on personality, size, and experience level. They receive:
• Daily health checks from our experienced staff and specialists including veterinarians, equine chiropractors, farriers & equine dentists to name a few
• Balanced nutrition and clean water to keep them strong and healthy – our horses specialized diets consist of a high quality western alfalfa that is trucked in from the Midwest just for them. Their grain and diets are formulated by a specialist called an equine nutritionist. Their nutritionist puts together a specific diet for each horse here on the ranch individually and they along with our staff use a high tech computer program to track micronutrients, fats, proteins and other elements of their food and diets. The horses also have a hay broker, pretty neat isn’t it? What is a hay broker ? He is a person trained in forage and animal diets with a background as a family physician. His job is to scour the country for high-quality hay and analyze batch reports on every batch of hay that our horses eat. In those batch reports he’s looking for and comparing information on micro nutrients, protein content and fats to ensure our horses are eating the best quality forage. One fun and interesting fact is some of his hay recently won best in the country in 2025. 🏆Pretty incredible right! So now we can say for certain that our herd eats the best quality hay in the United States !
• Plenty of rest time between rides to ensure they’re never overworked, the herd is also on a rotation schedule ensuring they get plenty of time on pastures to play, run around and just be horses.
• Comfortable stables and pastures where they can relax and graze
We want every family who rides with us to feel confident that their horse is well cared for and truly enjoys their time on the trail.

Beyond horses, families can meet our goats, sheep, kangaroos, bunnies, tropical birds and parrots, giant tortoises, our monkey Abu and other barnyard animals. These animal encounters are more than just fun—they’re educational. Children learn about respect, kindness, and responsibility by interacting with animals in a safe, supervised setting.
